SYSHP - Our Mission
SYSHP is a partnership of young people, staff and volunteers managed by a voluntary management committee.

Our purpose is :
   To enable young people with housing issues to take up their rights.
   To support young people to develop the skills needed to live independently.
   To support young people in becoming active participants in the community in which they live.

Core Values
  1. Young people have a right to be visible and be heard.
  2. Young people have a right to live in safe and affordable accommodation suited to their needs.
  3. SYSHP will at all times make decisions in an open and honest way and wherever possible will involve young people in this process.
  4. Young people have the right and will be consulted on the running of the project and have a right to be represented on the management committee.
  5. Young people have a right to receive a service irrespective of sex, race, sexuality, religion, disability or background.

Objectives
Our aim is to provide a range of services to enable young people to live independently. We will achieve this by
   Working in partnership to develop and maintain a range of accommodation both short and long term, furnished and unfurnished.
   Helping young people achieve independence by supporting the development of their life and social skills.
   Assisting young people in identifying and maintaining training / employment opportunities.
   Assisting young people in accessing primary health care.
   Providing information to enable young people to make informed choices.
   Advocating on young people's behalf where they feel unable to do so.
   Inform policy makers and other service providers on the needs of young people.
   By making best use of resources, including the use of volunteers from the local community.
   Working in partnership with a variety of funders both statutory and voluntary to provide a range of services to homeless young people.
