Job Title : Project Worker
Responsible To : Team Leader
Responsible For : The Project Worker will provide direct support to young people staying in the Drws Agored project or living in temporary accommodation arranged via the Swansea Youth Homeless Team.
Place of Work : Drws Agored
Hours : 38.5 24 hour shift cover
Salary : Scale 21 26 £18,685 - £21,708
Description : Duties and responsibilities.
1. To provide direct support to young people as part of an overall training and resettlement package.
2. To assist young people in the provision of an efficient, responsive and sympathetic housing management service.
3. To advise young people on the availability of benefits and support services offered by Swansea Young Single Homeless Project.
4. To be responsible for aspects of maintenance control and health and safety checks.
5. To ensure that Dwrs Agoreds rental income is maximised by the collection of rent and re-charges, keep accurate records and liase with Administration and Finance Departments.
6. To advise on rehousing options and make referrals to other agencies in relation to temporary and permanent accommodation.
7. To record accurate information in line with day to day operational procedures, which will include enquiries book, office logbook, admissions book, white board as well as collating statistics.
8. To actively work in partnership with young people in order to identify and work on their housing and support needs, proactively advocating on their behalf with other agencies and providers.
9. To provide practical support and information to enable young people to maintain temporary accommodation.
10. To assist young people who are in temporary accommodation to continue their education and career opportunities.
11. To encourage the involvement of young people in group activities and in the management of the project.
12. To contribute to the development and review of SYSHP policy and procedures.
13. To receive regular supervision and to use this in conjunction with staff appraisal and training to further professional development. This includes taking part in staff meetings and development days.
14. To take part in the monitoring, reviewing and evaluation of the work in conjunction with project staff and young people.
15. To comply with and promote the Health and Safety at Work legislation and SYSHP policies on health and safety.
16. To comply with and promote SYSHPs equal opportunities policy and procedures.
17. To work flexibly to meet operational requirements.
18. To support and supervise volunteers as appropriate.
19. To undertake regular cleaning of the exterior and communal parts of the project and ensure that the bedsitting rooms are thoroughly cleaned when people move out.

Place of Work : Based in Hanover Street
Hours : 1x37.5 1x 20 hrs
Salary : 21 26 (£18,685 - £21,708) pro rata
Description : Duties and responsibilities
1. To assist young people in the provision of an efficient, responsive and sympathetic housing management service.
2. To provide direct support to young people as part of a planned package of support, designed according to individual need.
3. To provide practical support and information to enable young people to take on and manage the tenancy.
4. To set goals and participate in regular reviews with young people to assess and evaluate progress made.
5. To encourage and enable young people to obtain and use facilities and services within the Project, their community and from other agencies. This will involve liaison with other staff members and a range of statutory and voluntary agencies and to continue to promote established networks with other agencies.
6. To work with young people to identify and access appropriate sources of income. This will include ensuring that young people access their full entitlement to benefits including assistance through the review process.
7. To work with the young person to successfully complete their contract and to enable them to adjust to living independently, after the support of the Project is withdrawn.
8. To develop and maintain positive relationships with the young people, working in partnership with them towards their empowerment. This involves supporting the young person in the development of their potential and skills as tenants, as individuals living independently and as members of the community.
9. To plan and deliver a programme of activities designed to encourage participation among young people. The programme will focus on life and social skills, personal development and health issues.
10. To encourage the involvement of young people in group activities and in the management of the project.
11. To undertake the necessary administration and to ensure full and adequate recording and passing on of information.
12. To contribute to the development and review of SYSHP policy and procedures.

Description : Duties and responsibilities.
1. To work as part of a team to ensure the safety of young people by following the procedures laid down in the project manual.
2. To provide practical support to young people.
3. To provide clear, accurate information to young people.
4. To record accurate information in line with operational procedures
5. To clean communal and exterior parts of the project.
6. To clean bed sitting room when young people move out and to prepare the room for the new occupant.
7. To receive supervision and core training identified by the organisation.
8. To raise any concerns to the Team Leader and / or Project Manager.
9. To comply with SYSHPs policies and procedures.
10. To assist young people who are in temporary accommodation to continue their education and career opportunities.
